Residents in Jialin Community of Lifa Sub-district in Haian City, East China's Jiangsu Province, got a chance to know more about the country's newly adopted Civil Code thanks to a publicity activity on June 6.
The activity was organized by the community and the People's Court of Haian City with a theme of "Civil Code Makes Life Better."
Staff from the People's Court of the city together with community law popularization volunteers explained the content of the Civil Code to residents with straightforward words, and emphasized the meaning of the law, trying to increase public awareness of civil rights and improve residents' legal knowledge.
The Civil Code, known as "The Encyclopedia of Social Life," was born at the third session of the 13th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, on May 28, and will take effect on January 1, 2021.
In addition to general provisions and supplementary provisions, the Civil Code, the world's latest modern-day civil law, has six parts on real rights, contracts, personality rights, marriage and family, succession and tort liabilities.
